"Project T" is the vision of Harbor Habitat Executive Director, Erin Hudson. The concept for the project is a self-sustaining community with various housing options designed to support the elevation of families out of poverty and toward financial independence.
The three-phase project includes 14 duplexes, (homes 28 for sale), a mixed-use building with ground floor childcare, and 5 duplexes (10 homes for sale) constructed through the traditional Harbor Habitat for Humanity program.
Project T is located within one mile of downtown Benton Harbor near a major commercial corridor. The site is surrounded by a dense single-family neighborhood that is comprised of residents that are actively engaged and eager to see the new development come to fruition.
This phase includes 14 duplexes with 28 two- and three-bedroom homes for sale. Each home is sold individually (buyers purchase one unit within a duplex).
These units will be dedicated to individuals and families between 60 and 120 percent of Area Median Income (AMI).
Phase 2 will include a mixed-use building that will contain 39 one and two-bedroom apartments for rent, with a ground floor child care center and commercial space.
Residential units will be targeted for individuals and families between 40 and 80 percent of AMI.
Phase 3 will include 5 duplexes with 10 homes for sale developed through the traditional Harbor Habitat for Humanity model and targeted exclusively to Harbor Habitat's existing waitlist of clients.
These units will be targeted to individuals and families between 30 and 80 percent of AMI.
